March 1992
Sierra Casework Inc. began in March of 1992 as Sierra Cabinets. The Company was founded by Richard and Mark out of a small, 2,000 sq. ft. barn in a rural area on the west side of Modesto, CA. With nothing more than a table saw, sander, and shaper Richard and Mark, along with Richard's brother-in-law Bub, began making their first European style cabinets by hand.
June 1996
As sales began to grow, so did our equipment and soon we needed to find a bigger shop. In June of 1996 we moved to 1295 Emerald Ave in Modesto. There, with about 14,000 sq. ft. of space, we continued to grow. Hiring on many new employee to meet increased demand. Using state of the art computerized machinery, linking the work floor to our office, we optimized our work flow and capacity and soon we were using every sq. in. of our new shop.
October 2001
In October 2001 we incorporated and changed our name to Sierra Casework, Inc..
October 2002
The next year, in October 2002, Richard bought out Marks shares in the company making Sierra Casework officially 100% family owned and operated.
February 2005
We started producing full form counter tops in February 2005 for our own needs. Purchasing a full line of Evans Machinery.
August 2007
As we continued to grow it wasn't too long before we had again outgrown the space we occupied. In 2007 we moved to our largest and current location at 205 Spenker Ave, still in Modesto. We now have over 25,000 sq. ft. of space and are even now nearing capacity.
October 2019
After loosing our supplier for blanks, we had to do something. In 2019 we expanded our machinery to include a custom made counter top core machine. Raw counter top blanks to be laminated then formed.
2020
We continue to grow our business. All ways improving our product and relationships with our customers.
2020
To this day we remain and truly are a family business. While remaining the official President of the Company, Richard now enjoys the life of a semi-retirement while his three sons have taken on the main responsibilities and leadership roles that keep the company running strong.
Dennis has taken on the responsibilities of running the company from the office. He is in charge of everything from project management to delivery scheduling, while remaining a key machine operator and technician when needed.
Shawn is the Lead Installer for Sierra Casework and also specializes in Corian top fabrication. Additionally he maintains the computer networking and security features on site, as well as keeps all our devices communicating properly.
Ryan, after having taken over Becky's responsibilities in the mid 2000's, is our Chief Financial officer, comptroller, and head of payroll and accounts payable. He also is our main builder out in the shop, so it's safe to say nothing leaves Sierra Casework unless he knows about it!
We also have many other family members who have joined the team in the past years.
Ann, Shawn's wife, who has been an integral part of the team for many years now, is our Lead Sales associate and she handles all of the legal paperwork as well. She is also the "official" party planner and birthday remember'er here at Sierra Casework and she never forgets to make everyone feel special.
Stacie, Dennis' wife, works as the Lead Estimator in our front office and handles all our phone calls, so if you call down here and are greeted by a friendly voice, that's our lovely Stacie!
Also in the Office we have Luke, Bub's son, who works as our Cabinet designer and general assistant to Dennis. Now, and possibly most excitingly, we even have third generation family members working in our shop.
Ben, Shawn and Ann's son, is our main cabinet deliverer and also works in the finishing department.
Nathan, Ryan's son, is in charge of shop clean up and has made our shop look spectacular.
Finally, we have Natalie, Ryan's daughter, and she has been helping keep our offices and break room tidy.
As most of our guys have been with us many years, we consider the family as well.
