About Us: Our History

Sierra Casework Inc. specializes in W. I (Woodwork Institute) custom grade cabinets and counter tops for the health, education and business industries. Started as a partnership in March of 1992, at a small shop in west Modesto with a table saw, sander and shaper as Sierra Cabinets, making European style cabinets by hand, we have grown several times and now occupy 25,000 sq. ft., building, we have state of the art computerized machines, and have incorporated, changing our name to Sierra Casework Inc. Richard bought out his partner making this a family owned and run business in 2001.

Sierra Casework, Inc. started out as Sierra Cabinets back in March of 1992. Partners, Richard and Mark, had a small shop of about 2,000 sq ft in a barn on the west side of Modesto. The machinery consisted of a table saw, sander and shaper. Back then… Richard and Mark had to make the first European cabinets by hand!!!

As equipment changed to meet our growing sales, we needed to find a bigger shop. So, in June of 1996 we moved to 1295 Emerald Avenue, Modesto. There is about 14,000 sq ft in this space and we use every inch of it. Our machines have grown bigger… to include state of the art computerized CNC machines that are networked to the main office.

In October 2001 we incorporated and had to change our name to Sierra Casework, Inc. The next year, October 2002, Richard was able to buy Mark out and became 100% owner and boss man of Sierra Casework, Inc.

We truly are a family business, as our three sons work here, along with Ann, our daughter in law. Dennis, is the shop supervisor, In charge of lay outs and estimating. Shawn, Installs cabinets and counter tops. Also is in charge of all solid surface fabrication. Ryan, has gone to college to learn the accounting and book keeping side of the business. He also helps out in the shop when needed. Ryan has taken over moms (Becky) job of book keeping and payroll. And then there’s Ann, working the phones, coordinating jobs and generally getting everything done that we throw at her!

Currently we have about 13 employees and continue to make European style cabinets. Our primary customers are modular companies and schools. We also do some high end residential and medical offices.

We started producing full form counter tops in February 2005 for our own needs. However, that quickly changed, as word got out. We now provide counter tops for other cabinet shops and some lumber companies.

Our most recent growth was the addition of our new 25,000 Sq.Ft. building. With this new space, our production and efficiency has grown.
